Onyx Up North

23 February 2017

A few weeks ago, Onyx Brass enjoyed a day of coaching students at the University of Newcastle, including several in a lunchtime concert in the beautiful King's Hall. The very next day, they hosted workshops with some much younger students from primary and secondary schools around Helmsley, North Yorkshire, and finished the mini-tour with an evening recital at the Helmsley Arts Centre.

Both concerts featured works from their latest CD, "On an Overgrown Path", as well as new works by some of Britain's most promising jazz composers, which will form part of a future CD. Before that, the quintet will be in the studio with John Wilson, recording fanfares for Chandos.
